Today the whole character of the trek changes as we move from vegetation zone to high moorland.We cross the southwest side of mount Kilimanjaro, passing the Lava Tower connecting to the arrow glacier and finally down to the Barranco camp for meals and spending the rest of the day and night.

Today we starts with a tough steep walk on the Barranco wall followed by a gentle slope which finally takes us high to Karanga Camp. Leaving the Karanga camp, we hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail and then continue to Barafu Camp for rest and preparations for the Kilimanjaro summit. The peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this point. The journey from Barafu to Mount Kilimanjaro summit starts in the mid-night.

The climb to the summit starts in the midnight by the light of your torch, we ascend upwards to the northwest, climbing the heavy scree to Stella point on Mount Kilimanjaro Crater Rim with ice cliffs surrounding us .At this point we will be rewarded with magnificent views of Mawenzi peak given the first rays of the sun hitting us. From this point, we will walk approximately 1 hour to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m).We shall take photos and back to Barafu Camp using the same path which has brought us to the summit. Upon reaching Barafu camp we shall take breakfast followed by some rest before dropping down to Millennium Camp for the rest of the day and night sleep.
