Opting for the 5 days Marangu route, you will successfully conquer Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit within a short duration compared to 6-days trek via this route. 5 days Marangu route is an excellent option for rainy season climbs as well as minimum fit trekkers. The beginners would need at least 6 days to complete. The Marangu route lies inside Kilimanjaro National Park on southeast side, crossing all climatic zones of the mountain from cultivated zone to alpine desert zone. Uniquely, it is the only route that offers dormitory-style huts with comfortable beds for overnight stays, flush toilets, solar panels and free internet connection.

5 days Marangu route trek offers spectacular views of Kilimanjaro's southern-east slopes. However, the fact that it uses the same path for both ascent and descent limits the variety of scenery and makes the trail somewhat busy.

Considering the 5 days Marangu route? It's the best choice for climbing Kilimanjaro during the rainy seasons: from mid-March to late May, and from late October to late December because the huts will keep you dry and comfortable. The Marangu route is available in 5- and 6-day variations, while the 5-day itinerary may sound appealing, it is far more difficult due to hard acclimatization.
