Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to a comfortable lodge or hotel in Moshi or Arusha. A pre-trek briefing will be conducted, covering essential equipment, safety measures, and your personalized itinerary.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha – Umbwe Gate (1,640m) – Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m)

After breakfast, drive to Umbwe Gate for registration before embarking on a steep and scenic ascent through dense rainforest. The challenging trek takes approximately 5-6 hours, leading to Umbwe Cave Camp for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m) – Barranco Camp (3,950m)

Continue ascending through the forest and transition into moorland terrain. The route provides spectacular views of Kibo Peak and unique photographic opportunities. Arrive at Barranco Camp after a 4-5 hour trek.

Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,950m) – Karanga Camp (4,035m) (Optional Acclimatization Day)

Climb the Barranco Wall, a thrilling yet rewarding challenge, before trekking to Karanga Camp. This day allows for additional acclimatization and optional wildlife observation or local interactions with mountain porters.

Day 5: Karanga Camp (4,035m) – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)
