Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to an eco-lodge in Moshi or Arusha. A pre-trek briefing will cover essential trekking guidelines, sustainable practices, and an introduction to Kilimanjaro’s ecosystem.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha – Umbwe Gate (1,640m) – Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m)

After breakfast, transfer to Umbwe Gate, where you will receive an overview of conservation efforts in the area. Begin your steep ascent through the rainforest, with insights into the region’s biodiversity and wildlife. Trekking for 5-6 hours, you will arrive at Umbwe Cave Camp, where you will stay at an eco-conscious campsite using sustainable waste management systems.

Day 3: Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m) – Barranco Camp (3,950m)

Continue trekking through montane and moorland zones, learning about the transition of flora and fauna as elevation increases. Arrive at Barranco Camp after a 4-5 hour hike. This camp follows eco-friendly guidelines, ensuring minimal impact on the fragile environment.

Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,950m) – Karanga Camp (4,035m) (Optional Acclimatization Day)

Climb the Barranco Wall, offering breathtaking views and an opportunity to discuss glacier retreat and climate change. Trek to Karanga Camp, where you will engage in a sustainability workshop on reducing trekking impact.

Day 5: Karanga Camp (4,035m) – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Begin the midnight summit ascent, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Enjoy the spectacular views while learning about the geology and glacial changes of Kilimanjaro. Descend to Mweka Camp for the night, practicing Leave No Trace principles.

Day 7: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate (1,640m) – Moshi/Arusha

The final descent takes 3-4 hours through the rainforest. Participate in a reforestation project before receiving your summit certificate. Transfer to Moshi or Arusha for a well-earned rest.
