Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi/Arusha
Arrive in Tanzania, transfer to the eco-lodge, and meet your guide for a sustainable trekking briefing.
Day 2: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp (2,600m)
Begin the trek with a 4-5 hour hike through a remote forested trail, learning about indigenous flora and fauna.
Day 3: Simba Camp to Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m)
Pass through scenic moorlands with a focus on alpine plant adaptations. Evening conservation talk at camp.
Day 4: Kikelelwa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)
Hike through rugged terrain near Mawenzi Peak while discussing glacial retreat and Kilimanjaro’s changing climate.
Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Cross the alpine desert “Saddle” while exploring the effects of altitude on vegetation and wildlife.
Day 6: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Summit at sunrise, celebrating an eco-conscious climb. Descend to Horombo Hut while practicing leave-no-trace principles.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate (1,900m) & Departure
Final descent through the rainforest with a tree-planting activity before leaving Kilimanjaro.
(For 8-day options, an extra day is included for better acclimatization and deeper ecological learning.)
