Each destination has its own unique landscape, wildlife, and atmosphere, creating a diverse safari experience from start to finish.
Arusha National Park
Begin your safari in Arusha National Park, a scenic destination dominated by Mount Meru and diverse landscapes ranging from montane forests to open grasslands and the beautiful Momella Lakes. The park is home to giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species.
Tarangire National Park
Continue to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, seasonal wetlands, and open savannah. Wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River and other water sources, creating excellent opportunities for game viewing, especially during the dry season.
Serengeti National Park
Explore the world-famous Serengeti, where vast grasslands support an extraordinary variety of wildlife. During game drives, you may encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, and numerous antelope species. The Serengeti is also known for its seasonal wildlife movements and the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for another exceptional wildlife experience. The crater's enclosed ecosystem supports a high concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and, with luck, the endangered black rhinoceros. The dramatic crater walls also provide an unforgettable backdrop for game viewing.
Lake Manyara National Park
Complete your Northern Tanzania wildlife adventure at Lake Manyara National Park. The park features groundwater forests, open plains, wetlands, and the alkaline lake itself. Visitors can encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, hippos, monkeys, and an impressive variety of birdlife.
Five Destinations, One Complete Safari
The greatest advantage of this itinerary is the variety it offers. Instead of focusing on a single national park, you travel through different ecosystems and landscapes, giving you the opportunity to experience a broader range of Tanzania's wildlife and natural beauty within seven days.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed because animals move freely through their natural habitats. However, traveling with an experienced safari guide helps maximize your opportunities to discover wildlife and understand the unique ecosystems of Northern Tanzania.
Wildlife You Can See
This 7 Days Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara & Arusha National Park Safari gives you the opportunity to encounter a remarkable variety of wildlife across five different ecosystems. From large elephant herds and iconic African predators to giraffes, zebras, hippos, monkeys, and hundreds of bird species, each destination adds something unique to your Northern Tanzania wildlife experience.
Elephants
Elephants are among the most impressive animals you may encounter, particularly in Tarangire National Park. Large herds can often be seen moving through the savannah, feeding around baobab trees, or gathering near water sources.
Lions
Lions can be encountered across several of the safari destinations, with Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater offering excellent opportunities to search for these iconic African predators.
Leopards
Leopards are more elusive and may require patience and careful observation. Your safari guide will help search suitable habitats, particularly areas with trees and dense vegetation where leopards may rest.
Cheetahs
The open plains of the Serengeti provide suitable habitat for cheetahs. During game drives, you may spot these fast and graceful predators scanning the grasslands for potential prey.
Buffaloes
African buffaloes can be seen in several of the parks included in this safari. They may occur in large herds across open grasslands, woodland areas, and near water sources.
Giraffes
Giraffes are commonly encountered across Northern Tanzania. Their distinctive appearance makes them one of the most enjoyable animals to observe, particularly when they are feeding among acacia trees.
Wildebeest & Zebras
Wildebeest and zebras are important members of the Serengeti ecosystem and may be encountered in large groups across the open plains. Their numbers and distribution vary according to season and natural wildlife movements.
Hippos
Hippos can be found in suitable lakes, rivers, and wetlands. Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro ecosystem provide opportunities to observe these powerful aquatic animals from a safe distance.
Hyenas
Spotted hyenas are an important part of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro ecosystems. They may be observed travelling in groups, resting, or actively searching for food during game drives.
Zebras, Gazelles & Antelopes
A variety of grazing animals can be seen throughout the safari, including zebras, gazelles, impalas, and other antelope species. These herbivores contribute to the rich wildlife diversity of the Northern Tanzania ecosystems.
Rhinoceros
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the places where you may have an opportunity to search for the endangered black rhinoceros. Sightings are special and never guaranteed because rhinos are wild and naturally cautious animals.
Monkeys & Baboons
Arusha National Park and Lake Manyara provide excellent opportunities to encounter different primate species, including monkeys and baboons. Their presence adds another dimension to the safari beyond the larger mammals.
Birdlife
Birdwatchers can expect an impressive variety of bird species across the five destinations. Forests, lakes, wetlands, grasslands, and savannah habitats support colourful resident and migratory birds, making this safari suitable for both general wildlife enthusiasts and bird lovers.
Big Five Wildlife Opportunities
This safari provides opportunities to search for Tanzania's famous Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros. However, wildlife sightings depend on season, weather, location, and animal movements, so seeing every species cannot be guaranteed.
Your experienced safari guide will help identify wildlife and explain animal behaviour throughout the journey, making every game drive an opportunity to discover something new.

Arusha National Park Experience
Arusha National Park offers a beautiful introduction to Northern Tanzania's diverse landscapes and wildlife. Located near Arusha and dominated by the impressive Mount Meru, the park combines montane forests, open grasslands, volcanic landscapes, and the scenic Momella Lakes. It provides a quieter and more varied wildlife experience before continuing to the larger safari destinations.
During your visit, you may encounter giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species. The forested areas are particularly interesting for primate viewing, while the open plains around Momella provide opportunities to observe larger animals.
Mount Meru Landscapes
One of the defining features of Arusha National Park is Mount Meru, Tanzania's second-highest mountain. The mountain creates a spectacular backdrop for game drives and contributes to the park's diverse habitats and scenic beauty.
Momella Lakes
The Momella Lakes add a distinctive element to the park's landscape. These shallow lakes attract different bird species and wildlife, creating excellent opportunities for scenic photography and wildlife observation.
Forest & Wildlife Experience
Unlike the vast open plains of the Serengeti, Arusha National Park offers a mixture of forest, woodland, wetlands, and grasslands. This variety allows you to experience a different side of Tanzania's natural environment.
Tarangire National Park Experience
Tarangire National Park is one of Northern Tanzania's most distinctive wildlife destinations, famous for its impressive elephant herds, enormous baobab trees, seasonal wetlands, and beautiful savannah landscapes. The Tarangire River is an important water source that attracts wildlife, particularly during the dry season.
During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, warthogs, impalas, and numerous other wildlife species. The park's diverse habitats also support an impressive variety of birdlife.
Elephant Herds
Elephants are among Tarangire's most famous attractions. Large herds can often be seen moving through the park, feeding among the vegetation, or gathering near water sources.
Iconic Baobab Trees
Tarangire's ancient baobab trees create some of the most recognizable scenery in Tanzania. These enormous trees provide a spectacular backdrop for wildlife photography and make game drives through the park particularly memorable.
Rich Wildlife & Birdlife
Tarangire supports a wide variety of animals and birds. Its combination of woodland, grassland, wetlands, and river environments provides excellent opportunities to observe wildlife in different natural habitats.
Serengeti National Park Experience
Serengeti National Park is the centerpiece of this 7 Days Northern Tanzania Safari and one of the world's most famous wildlife destinations. Its vast open plains, rocky kopjes, woodlands, and seasonal water sources support an extraordinary concentration of wildlife throughout the year.
Serengeti game drives offer opportunities to search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, gazelles, and many other species. The park's changing landscapes ensure that every game drive can offer a different wildlife experience.
Big Cat Encounters
The Serengeti is particularly well known for its large predator populations. During game drives, you may have opportunities to observe lions, cheetahs, and the more elusive leopard in their natural habitats.
Great Wildebeest Migration
The Serengeti forms the central part of the annual Great Wildebeest Migration. Depending on the season of your visit, you may encounter large concentrations of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles moving through the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water.
Endless Serengeti Plains
Beyond its wildlife, Serengeti is famous for its enormous open landscapes. The seemingly endless grasslands provide spectacular views and create the classic African safari scenery that makes the Serengeti one of Tanzania's most iconic destinations.
Wildlife movements are natural and unpredictable, so specific animal sightings or migration locations cannot be guaranteed. Your experienced safari guide will use local knowledge and current conditions to maximize your opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Ngorongoro Crater Experience
The Ngorongoro Crater provides one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences in Northern Tanzania. Formed by the collapse of a massive volcanic caldera, the crater contains a remarkable variety of habitats and supports a high concentration of wildlife within its natural boundaries.
Your crater game drive takes you across grasslands, wetlands, woodland areas, and other habitats where you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, gazelles, and many other species.
Exceptional Wildlife Concentration
The crater's enclosed environment supports a large number of animals throughout the year, making it one of the most rewarding places in Tanzania for wildlife viewing.
Black Rhinoceros
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the places where you may have an opportunity to search for the endangered black rhinoceros. Sightings are not guaranteed, but encountering one is a particularly memorable wildlife experience.
Spectacular Crater Scenery
Wildlife is only part of the experience. The enormous crater walls, open grasslands, seasonal wetlands, and surrounding highlands create dramatic scenery throughout the game drive.
The combination of concentrated wildlife and extraordinary volcanic scenery makes the Ngorongoro Crater one of the essential highlights of this seven-day Northern Tanzania safari.
Lake Manyara National Park Experience
Lake Manyara National Park adds a completely different environment to this 7 Days Northern Tanzania Safari. Located along the Great Rift Valley, the park features groundwater forests, open grasslands, wetlands, acacia woodland, and the scenic alkaline waters of Lake Manyara.
During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, hippos, baboons, monkeys, and numerous bird species. The park's varied habitats allow you to experience a wide range of wildlife within a relatively compact area.
Lake Manyara's Diverse Landscapes
The transition from lush groundwater forests to open plains and lake environments makes Lake Manyara particularly scenic. The Great Rift Valley escarpment also provides impressive views around the park.
Elephants & Large Mammals
Lake Manyara supports a healthy population of elephants and other large mammals. Buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest can also be encountered during game drives depending on the season and current wildlife movements.
Birdwatching Experience
Lake Manyara is also an excellent destination for bird enthusiasts. Its lake, wetlands, forests, and grasslands provide habitats for a wide variety of resident and migratory bird species.
Scenic Great Rift Valley Setting
One of the highlights of visiting Lake Manyara is experiencing its dramatic location along the Great Rift Valley. The combination of wildlife, forest, lake scenery, and escarpment views provides a fitting conclusion to your Northern Tanzania safari adventure.
